Procedures

IFR Suite does not keep you current.

Currency is whether the regulation still allows you to fly under instrument rules. Proficiency is whether you can still fly the procedure. The app does not settle either one, and it does not log the flight.

A field note, for the way ahead.

Currency is whether the regulation still allows you to fly under instrument rules. Proficiency is whether you can still fly the procedure. They are not the same thing. IFR Suite does not settle either one.

Time in the app is not flight time, instrument time, or credit toward that regulation. It does not log an approach, a hold, or an intercept for you. It does not fail the instruments, and it does not teach a recovery from an unusual attitude.

What a session is

One procedure, so the picture is familiar before you spend airplane time.

  • A departure, until the runway and the first turns are familiar.
  • The traffic pattern, until you can describe the circuit.
  • An approach, from the initial segment through the missed approach.
  • A hold. The entry is direct, teardrop, or parallel, chosen from your heading and from where you are relative to the inbound course.
  • An intercept, and a DME arc.

There are more than 9,800 airports and navaids. Glass or round gauges. The instruments stay in English. The session panel follows the language you choose.

Whether you may go belongs to the regulation and to your instructor. The app does not copy a clearance, and it is not a source of charts. It is not for a real flight.

Use a short session, then fly the same procedure with your instructor.
