Procedures

IFR Suite is not an emergency checklist.

An engine failure, an electrical failure, or a lost radio call belongs to the aircraft and to that aircraft’s checklist. The app is a short session on one procedure, and it is not for a real flight.

A field note, for the way ahead.

An engine failure, an electrical failure, or a lost radio call in cloud is an emergency in the aircraft. IFR Suite does not tell you what to do then. It is not a checklist, and it is not for a real flight.

There is no engine to fail in the app, no electrical system, and no radio. There is no microphone. The app does not teach phraseology, and it does not copy a clearance.

What a session is

One procedure, so the picture is familiar before you spend airplane time.

  • A departure, until the runway and the first turns are familiar.
  • The traffic pattern, until you can describe the circuit.
  • An approach, from the initial segment through the missed approach.
  • A hold. The entry is direct, teardrop, or parallel, chosen from your heading and from where you are relative to the inbound course.
  • An intercept, and a DME arc.

There are more than 9,800 airports and navaids. Glass or round gauges. The instruments stay in English. The session panel follows the language you choose.

When something goes wrong in the airplane

That belongs to the aircraft, to the checklist for that aircraft, and to your instructor. Time in the app is not flight time and not instrument time. The app is not a source of charts.

Use a short session, then fly the same procedure with your instructor.
